I am back again after a short time away. You know, sometimes you need to sort of step back a bit when you find that you are not spending enough time in the mundane world. Such was my experience over the past month or so. Because I tend to be so active in the Craft, both in my private practice and in the virtual world of forums and informational boards, I sometimes find that there's not a lot of time left over for the day-to-day stuff. As such, I sometimes will take a break of a month or so from heavy-duty practice and the various online groups I frequent, including my blog. There's never a time that I am not a Witch or don't keep up the basics, but I think taking a bit of a break can be a great way to recharge your batteries and catch up on all the non-occult stuff that wants doing.
I've also been unfortunately suffering another bad cycle of migraines. They tend to come in clusters; a few weeks or a month of feeling better follow by a few weeks of solid agony. I am much better than I was in the past, but it still takes the wind out of my sails. Today I've been catching up on tidying up the new place (I still have a few boxes that need to be unpacked!) and such. I'm much, much happier in my new home and find that I'm sleeping much better without noisy neighbors, so that's one thing I am grateful for.
A lot of exciting things are coming up for the next month. I've already written about Gemma Gary's new book "The Black Toad" which should be arriving early next month. I've also ordered some wonderful "Night Blooming Flying Oil" from my friend over at Alchemy Works. I may be hosting an online book discussion for "The Black Toad" with my friend Eric Jeffords, so keep your eyes peeled for further developments.
